Pre-College Architectural: An intense curriculum that immerses curious high school students (16 – 18) in the creative energy and speculative culture of architecture studies.
In these changing times, the Architecture program answers to issues in practice, communication, and our relationship with the built environment by employing a wide collection of tools and strategies, directed by the School of Architecture Faculty’s leadership.
Pre-College Architecture introduces young designers to design practice, creative problem solving, and critical thinking through a programming matrix, promoting curiosity and offering a strong foundation for architectural education. Students will negotiate complicated design issues, fostering progress via skill development and preparing them for future undergraduate courses.
The Pre-College Architecture Program is a summer intensive experience for individuals with a strong interest in architecture.
Over the course of six weeks, students will encounter the multidisciplinary discipline of architecture through the perspective of Carnegie Mellon’s School of Architecture (SOA) as well as contemporary practices. Students will be immersed in the dynamism of architectural education through integrated curriculum in analog drawing, digital media, lectures, and workshops. This method will allow for a more in-depth examination of design concerns including the environment, technology, and the future of our cities.
During the final two weeks of the program, specialist seminars on design portfolio creation will be held as an introduction to layout design and content authoring strategies.
