Brookline Music School seeks to awaken and nurture musical interest, appreciation, and artistic excellence in tweens, teens, and young adults via private lessons, group classes, year-round programs (after-school and summer), and performances in the Brookline, Massachusetts area. Teen musicians can take private lessons or participate in one of several ensembles.

About Private Lessons:

Brookline Music School is committed to ensuring that each student has a positive private lesson experience. A good student-teacher relationship is essential, so students are individually placed with a teacher based on learning style, experience, and musical interests.

Personalized mentorship: Our distinguished faculty members are dedicated to providing engaging and personalized musical mentorship for each student.
Recitals: In addition, private lesson students have the opportunity to perform in recitals and salons as well as participate in exclusive departmental events, Dynamic Duos, evaluations, workshops, and masterclasses.
Progress reports: Private lessons also include written progress reports from faculty and end-of-year parent/teacher phone conferences.

About Ensembles:

Performing ensembles at Brookline Music School offer students the unique chance to work together in a social, collaborative atmosphere to sharpen their musical skills and have fun! Ensemble playing requires members to listen carefully to themselves and each other, building a strong sense of rhythm and meter, and a keen ear for intonation, articulation, and dynamics. Students of classical chamber music will be exposed to new composers, forms, and styles that will expand their musical imagination and knowledge. Jazz, pop, and rock bands allow endless group combinations and stylistic possibilities for instrumentalists and singers alike.

Placement in an ensemble is based off of an informal placement audition. Each group will receive a weekly coaching with one of our distinguished faculty members.

SUMMER:

Brookline Music School is open year-round, and students may continue private instruction throughout summer with flexible scheduling. Students may also select from a variety of summer classes and workshops.
